Memberships   

1- What are the different types of membership? 

The friends of the Biodôme sell three types of membership: 

  • Space for life Passport—from 83$ to 145$ 
  • Annual membership to the Biodôme—from 22,50$ to 84$ 
  • Program membership—20$ 

 

The Space for life Passport gives you unlimited access to all Space for life museums for one year, starting from the date of purchase.  

The annual membership to the Biodôme gives you unlimited access to the Biodôme for one year, starting from the date of purchase.  

The program membership allows people who previously bought a Space for life passport at another selling point to have access to the Friends of the Biodôme’s exclusive activities, in addition to using the Biodôme and the Planétarium’s lockers for free.  

All three memberships also offer you: 

  • Discounts at the Space for life restaurants and gift shops 
  • Exclusive activities 
  • Free use of the Biodôme and the Planetarium’s lockers 
  • Support to the Biodôme’s research projects
  • Participation in the Friends of the Biodôme’s associative life

2- What are the memberships’ advantages?  

Buying a membership or a Space for Life Passport, in addition to an unlimited access to the museum(s), (depending on the types of membership you choose), also includes:

3- Is it possible to buy my Space for life passport with the Friends of the Biodôme? 

Indeed, it is possible to buy your Space for Life Passport with the Friends of the Biodôme, either at our counter, located at the Biodôme, or on our website. 

When you buy your Space for Life passport with the Friends of the Biodôme, you automatically become a member of our organization and benefit from multiple additional privileges for the same price!

4- What differentiates the Friends of the Biodôme from Space for Life/Biodôme? 

The Friends of the Biodôme is a non-profit organization who supports the Biodôme in its mission. We sell annual memberships as well as the Space for Life Passport, we manage multiple projects for the Biodôme (notably the Space for Life summer camps) and we also finance Biodôme’s various research and conservation projects.

5- Can I change the names of the people associated to my membership/passport? 

 This membership is non-transferable. It is not possible to change the name of the people registered at the time of purchase. However, it will be possible to do so once you renew your membership.  

 

6- What is a program membership? 

A program membership gives you the privileges of being a member of the Friends of the Biodôme without paying for the access to the Biodôme. 

This type of membership is mostly for people who bought their Space for Life Passport with either Space for Life or another Friends society but would still enjoy our members’ privileges. Watch out! Access fees to the Biodôme may be required if the activity takes place inside the ecosystems and the program membership’s owner does not have a Space for Life Passport.  

The Friends of the Biodôme is the only society, partners with Space for Life, offering this type of product.  

 

7- Does my Friends of the Biodôme’s membership include the advantages of other Friends Society (Friends of the Garden, Friends of the Insectarium, Friends of the Planétarium)? 

No. Our memberships only include the advantages of the Friends of the Biodôme’s members.  

 

8- What is my Friends of the Biodôme card useful for? 

Your Friends of the Biodôme membership card will need to be presented at the entrance of the Biodôme when you reserve your tickets via the exclusive link sent to our members. This card allows us to confirm the payment and the validity of your membership. 

Concerning the free use of the lockers, it is with this card that one of our employees will validate your membership and reimburse you the payment.  

You can also benefit from discounts at the gift shops and the restaurants by showing your Friends of the Biodôme card when you pay.  

 

9- Why are the membership cards virtual?  

Offering a virtual card allows us to be environmentally friendlier by reducing the printing of plastic cards. It also makes it easier for us to directly add an expiration date on your card, and it lightens your wallet. 😉 

 

10- Is it possible to get a physical membership card? 

Absolutely! This option is mainly for people who do not have a mobile phone or are unable to print their membership card at home. Simply come see us at the Friends of the Biodôme’s counter and ask for a printed card.  

 

Note! Five-dollar fees could apply in case of loss.  

 

11- How can I renew my Friends of the Biodôme membership?

12- How can I add people to my current membership? 

It is not possible to add more members to your family membership or modify the names already registered if the membership is full.  

However, if a spot for adult or child was left empty at the time of purchase, you can send us an email, clearly explaining your request: lesamisdubiodome@montreal.ca. 

 

13- What is my Friends of the Biodôme account useful for? 

Your online account will be useful to renew your membership.  

 

Programming  

1- Why does our programming activities have limited places? 

We are required to respect the places where the activities take place’s maximum capacity. Unfortunately, the lack of employees also affects our ability to reproduce our activities. However, we are currently working on raising our programming activities’ maximum capacity.  

Good to know: the Friends of the Biodôme organizes virtual activities every year, which allow us to welcome a maximum of participants!

 

2- Are the programming activities only for young children? 

No, we try to diversify our activities as much as possible. It is important to check the recommended or required age for certain activities. Every year, two conferences are offered to our members. Also, when possible, activities may be offered to multiple age groups.  

 

 Visiting the Biodôme 

1- Do I need to reserve a time sloth before visiting the Biodôme? 

It is strongly recommended to reserve your tickets in advance online.

2- Why is it necessary to reserve a time sloth before visiting the Biodôme (or another Space for Life museum)? 

The online reservations allow you to avoid lines at the museum in addition to ensuring a more pleasant visit in terms of crowdedness. They also avoid you coming all the way there only to learn that there are no more places available for the day (when very crowded)!

Lockers 

1- I am a member of the Friends of the Biodôme and have a free access to the lockers, how does it work? 

To benefit from our free access to the Biodôme and the Planétarium’s lockers, you need a two-dollar piece that you will use to put your belongings in the locker of your choice and get the orange key. Then, when you pass by our counter (located in the Biodôme’s lobby), present your orange key. A member of our team will be there to reimburse you the 2$ once they confirm your membership’s validity.  

 

Technical Problems 

1- I bought my Space for Life Passport but still haven’t received any emails including my passport, what should I do? 

If you bought your passport with the Friends of the Biodôme, contact us via this email address to inform us of the issue: lesamisdubiodome@montreal.ca.
